First math class at Swarthmore: Linear Algebra

What was your favorite math class and why?  STAT41 Data Visualization is my favorite course that I have taken in the department. I learned a lot in the class while also getting to engage in many hands-on projects. This class highly influenced my decision to look towards data science and analytics as a career

Why did you become a math major?   Math has always stood out to me because of the puzzle aspect to it. I knew that by studying math at Swarthmore I would be able to expand my knowledge and learn how to solve more complex problems.

How do you expect to use your mathematics after leaving Swarthmore?   My plan is to enter the sports analytics industry after college. I have spent the past two summers working in baseball analytics and hope to continue down that path. My dream would be to work as a softball data analyst.

What advice do you have for an incoming student?  The biggest piece of advice I would give to incoming freshmen would be to take advantage of office hours and math clinics. They are great ways to get help on problem sets while also meeting more people within the department.
