First math class at Swarthmore:  Math 25!

What was your favorite math class and why?  Real Analysis (Math 63). It was really fascinating understanding the foundational concepts behind calculus, and it really helped me understand why things are the way they are.

Why did you become a math major?  I always enjoyed playing around with data, and became fascinated with statistics ever since AP Statistics in high school. I came to Swarthmore wanting to major in Math with an emphasis on Statistics, and I have not regretted my decision one bit.

How do you expect to use your mathematics after leaving Swarthmore?   I hope to work in a field where I can utilize my statistical and data analysis skills. For example, doing quantitative analysis for a finance firm or data modeling for a startup. Long term I want to start my own business and utilize data with it.

What advice do you have for an incoming student?  Focus on developing good friendships and relationships with others. Ultimately positive and healthy relationships are the key to happiness. I wish I spent more energy building up friendships in my first semesters at Swat.

Other: Don’t just take math classes! Explore other fields. One of my favorite classes was a class on American Short Stories for example.
