The History of the Emerging Impressionist School in the 19th century and its Esthetic Charm for Generations

Lecture by Mr. Junyan Mao, (MA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts Beijing, China in 1987)
Kohlberg Hall 326, Language Center
March 28th
1:30 – 3:00 pm

Mr. Mao is a well trained art historian and has published more than three books on Arts. He is particularly interested in the Impressionist movement in the 19th century. He thinks that the impressionist movement is a kind of revolution in art history. He will use numerous images he collected to prove his conception. He also chose Swarthmore as a platform to enhance our students' better understanding of the esthetic charm of the impressionist arts. The event is open to the public.

The event is sponsored by the Chinese program of MLL.

Dear Chinese majors and minors of 2020:
We sincerely hope that the four years you have lived and worked at Swarthmore will leave you with everlasting memories of your enjoyment and intellectual growth. We are a little sad that now you must prepare to fly away, but happy that you will continue to explore your own goals and find your own destinations in the wide and boundless world! We wish you all great success in your career paths! However, please don’t forget that your alma mater is always your home away from home and that you are always welcome to come back, whether due to nostalgia or to gather inspiration, or to encourage and share your experience with the later fellow students. There will always be a seat for you at Chinese language table and we will always look forward to meeting with you again!

Warmest Congratulations, Class of 2020!
