Chorus in Fall 2020

The Fall 2020 semester will be a rewarding (if unusual!) one for the Swarthmore College Chorus.  Our main project will be to bring to life a new audiovisual work for virtual choir by composer Scott Ordway and producer Alexander Brusencev, commissioned by a consortium of colleges including Swarthmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, and Hamilton.  We will also endeavor to create our own virtual performance of Amy Beach's Peace I Leave With You and/or Jean Sibelius's hymn from Finlandia, and engage online in weekly explorations and discussions of choral repertoire, choral performance, and the ever-evolving definition of "chorus".  In light of the present risks inherent to in-person choral singing, we will be conducting all meetings virtually out of an abundance of caution.  0.5cr available (MUSI 043.01); may also be taken for 0.0 cr (MUSI 043.02).  Informal virtual audition required for new members for part-assignment purposes; visit www.swarthmore.edu/ChoralAuditions to schedule a virtual audition.  Please e-mail Joseph Gregorio at jgregor5@swarthmore.edu with questions.
