Music Minor

Requirements of the Music Minor.  

Prerequisites for acceptance as a music minor: students should have completed a minimum of MUSI 002B and MUSI 011/040A OR MUSI 011A/040A and one Music History/Ethnomusicology course to be considered as a music minor.

Ensemble:2 semestersOrchestra, Wind Ensemble, Chorus, Garnet Singers, Jazz Ensemble, Chinese Music Ensemble, Taiko, Gamelan, Critical Mass
Elective:2TWO electives of your choice (may include Dance or Theater with Department approval). One of these must be a designated "upper level" course or MUSI 012 & 040B. See Administrative Coordinator or Department chair for list of recent courses that fulfill the "upper level" designation.
Additional Requirement: Keyboard skills: This requirement can be fulfilled by completing MUSI 12 & 040B. One semester of Music 48 in piano will also fulfill this requirement. Students who do not complete Music 012 / 040B or who have not had piano instruction should see the Chair to discuss another path to fulfilling the keyboard skills requirement.
