A research article published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers, and Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer, shows that most Americans—more than 50%—report not knowing how alcoholic drinks affect cancer risk.

Auto-Brewery Syndrome: It's a real thing!

This rare condition produces ethanol (the alcohol in beer, selzters, ciders, wine, and spirits) through endogenous fermentation in the gastrointestinal (GI) system. This means that after a person consumes carbohydrate-rich foods, they can become intoxicated without actually drinking alcohol. Click here to learn more.

In the news: Drug disposal is having environmental impacts

FIU researcher Andy Distrubell examines a redfish as part of a study looking at pharmaceutical contamination in inshore fish in Florida. Nearly all of the more and 100 redfish studied had some form of pharmaceutical contamination in their systems. Click here to read more.
