2022 Summer Housing

Summer Housing is offered from May 20, 2022 - July 30, 2022. Students who have received a summer opportunity from the College receive priority status for summer housing reservations so long as all steps in the process are completed in a timely fashion. Failure to complete the form by the date listed above may result in lack of summer housing availability or may result in you being placed on a housing waitlist.

Summer Housing is available to students who are members of the Class of ‘23, ‘24 and ‘25.   Members of the Class of 2022 and students who are not currently enrolled at the College are not eligible for summer housing.

The default summer housing term is 10 weeks. Students may select a shorter summer term of 8 or 9 weeks, and are eligible for a prorated rent. There is no additional pro-ration for terms shorter than 8 weeks during the summer. Students who accept a summer opportunity are not required to live in summer housing.

For summer 2022, the 10-week window for housing is: Fri, May 20 - Sat, July 30, 2022

Students who choose a reduced stay of 8 or 9 weeks between the established housing dates will be prorated accordingly. When reserving summer housing, please select one of the options below:

  • 10 weeks - $1,320
    • Option A: May, 20, 2022 - July 30, 2022
  • 9 weeks - $1,220

      • Interim housing is not available from May 13th - May 27th

Summer housing will not be prorated for students who need housing for less than 8 weeks. Summer housing ends for all students on July 30, 2022. Late move-outs are not possible and all students are expected to depart campus by July 30, 2022. Students who need housing outside the dates listed above should consider off campus housing options.

The summer housing rent includes a small meal plan to help subsidize your meal costs during the summer term.  Specific hours of operation and total number of meals available will be shared closer to the beginning of the summer term. The meals provided are not meant to be a full meal plan and students should budget separately for meal costs during the summer term.

Please note: summer housing is prioritized for students who have received Swarthmore College sponsored summer opportunities. Depending on the number of students (with summer opportunities) who accept summer housing, space may be available for students who have not accepted College sponsored opportunities. Summer opportunities will be verified with respective offices/departments listed on the summer housing reservation form that students received via email.

Students who choose to live in summer housing may be required to move multiple times throughout the dates listed above. Students must also be available during the following dates to complete moves:

  • May 27 - May 29
  • July 29 - July 30

Payments for summer housing will be made through the Housing Portal and final rent payments must be submitted no later than 8:00am on July 1, 2022.

We hope to finalize Summer Housing assignments by mid-April. Students living in summer housing may be assigned to double or larger occupancy rooms. Students may be housed in single and double occupancy rooms in a variety of residence halls, including PPR apartments, Palmer, Parrish, Pittenger and similar locations. Summer residence hall assignments are based on the total number of summer housing applications received.

Meal Plan

All residence hall summer housing students will have a meal plan provided as part of their summer rent. Additional information about dates and locations will be shared by Dining Services in the future.
