Admissions Outlook
In 2024, 23.156 applicants were accepted to allopathic (MD) medical school out of 51,946 who applied, for an overall acceptance rate of 45%. However, the acceptance rate at any given school is considerably lower. At Albany Medical College, for example, 1% of the total number of applicants matriculated (140 out of 12,973); at Drexel, 2% (303 out of 15,654). The outlook for Swarthmore premedical students is much better than the overall acceptance rate of 45%. Our acceptance rate in 2024 was 96% — substantially higher than the national average — a record that few other colleges can claim.
