Summer Opportunities

 

  • Swarthmore- Funded Summer Opportunities- Every summer, Swarthmore College offers students generous funding that allows them to engage in high-impact learning experiences. While some of these are jobs and therefore limited to students with work-authorization, many funded experiential opportunities are available to all students. Read on to learn more about these summer opportunities. 
  • Summer Housing - Undocumented students who need to stay on campus during the summer, whether for safety or for a particular summer opportunity, may apply for funds to cover the cost of on-campus summer housing. Meet with Dean Karen Henry to discuss details.
  • External Opportunities - Undocumented students also seek external fellowships and independent contracting opportunities during the summers. The following are links to a few possible opportunities. Please understand that this list is not exhaustive. If you would like help evaluating eligibility for an external opportunity, feel free to reach out to Lesley Reyes Piña.
    • Dream Summer Dream Summer is an annual, 8-week, national fellowship of the UCLA Labor Center’s Dream Resource Center (DRC). Through Dream Summer, the DRC has provided close to 900 fellowship opportunities to immigrant youth and allies and has partnered with over 265 social justice organizations across the country.
    • Undocu-STEM This crowd-sourced list from Prof. Matthew Cover at Cal State Stanislaus includes summer STEM opportuities that do not require U.S. Citizenship.
    • Parker Dewey Micro-Internships These short-term, paid, professional projects are open to all college students and recent graduates of U.S.-based institutions. From working directly with an entrepreneur to supporting a large enterprise, students will have the opportunity to explore different roles and company cultures through micro-internships.
