Sharples Dining Hall

Sharples is Swarthmore’s full service dining hall, a place where our community gathers to dine together. Sharples offers a delicious and varied selection of fresh, locally sourced food as well as gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options at every meal.

Sharples will open on Tuesday, September 1. The hours below begin Thursday, September 3. Please note the following requirements for dining at Sharples:

  • Students will have to make reservations for each meal period using the G.E.T. Cbord App. They will be able to make this reservation 7 days in advance and will be offered slots every 15 minutes during each of the times.
  • Masks will need to be worn at all times, except when seated at a table eating.
  • Only Students will be allowed to Dine at Sharples. No guests, visitors, staff, or faculty will be able to dine at the facility.
  • From August 31 through September 19 all meals will be To-Go, and there will be no seating available in the dining rooms. After that, seating will still be limited to only 255 seats available for dine in, so students should plan to take their meals To-Go as often as possible. Students will be offered To-Go options for each and every meal.
  • The North Entrance will be the only entry into Sharples and the South Door will be the exit for all guests. When in the building, students will need to follow all posted signage for lines, entrances, and exits.
  • All meals will be served, there will be no Self Service, except for beverages, which will have no touch options or anti-microbial tape in place on touch points, and all plates, To-go containers, cups and utensils will be handed out to students. 
  • Students are not to be seated in the Dining Hall for more than 30-45 minutes during meal times.
  • Students will be offered salads and fruits, main course, which will include meats, vegan, and vegetarian options, sides, grill items, and desserts.

The Crumb Cafe

Sharples is also home to The Crumb Cafe (formerly Paces), a student-run late-night venue located in the West Dining Room. The Crumb Cafe will be closed during the Fall 2020 semester. For more information, visit The Crumb Cafe Facebook page.

Essie Mae's Snack Bar

Essie Mae’s offers an array of breakfast selections, including omelets, breakfast sandwiches, fresh-baked local bagels, assorted pastries, organic granola, cereals, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Enjoy our Fair Trade Coffee, juices, milk, and a large variety of teas.

For lunch and dinner, we make sandwiches fresh to order in our deli, offer meat and meatless items from the grill, and serve your favorite comfort foods, including chicken fingers, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, and fries. There is a colorful salad bar and a daily hot soup selection at lunch. We also have a variety of candy, ice cream, and sweet and savory snacks available all day. We carry gluten–free products, and vegetarian and vegan menu options are available throughout the day at every meal. 

Essie's will open on September 7. All meals will be To-Go, and you will be able to order your food in advance using the G.E.T. Cbord App. Limited seating will be made available starting September 21. The space will be sanitized throughout the day.

Kohlberg Coffee Bar

Kohlberg Coffee Bar

Kohlberg Coffee Bar serves locally roasted coffee and espresso, chai and organic teas, juices, sodas and smoothies. Our pastries, bagels and pretzels are locally baked daily, and we carry a variety of candies and snacks. For lunch, enjoy our homemade soups, delicious sandwiches and salads, and a selection of Indian dishes delivered hot from a local restaurant. Kohlberg Coffee Bar is open to the public and accepts cash, credit cards, Dining Dollars, Swat Points and Garnet Cash.

Beginning September 7, Kohlberg cafe will be open for pickup meals at lunch only. You must reserve your meal on the G.E.T. Cbord AppThe space will be sanitized throughout the day.

Science Center Cafe

The Science Center Coffee Bar features locally roasted coffee and espresso as well as seasonal hot apple cider, organic teas, chai, hot cocoa, sodas, and iced-blended drinks. We also offer a wide assortment of baked goods and candies. Lunch features freshly made sandwiches, salads, and soup, and fresh sushi and Chinese food options are delivered daily from a local restaurant. The Science Center Coffee Bar accepts cash, credit cards, Dining Dollars, Swat Points, and Garnet Cash.

The Science Center Cafe will open on September 7. All meals will be To-Go, and you will be able to order specialty coffee drinks in advance using the G.E.T. Cbord App. The space will be sanitized throughout the day.
