Worthmore Free Store Information
This message was sent by Clare Hyre on August 4, 2025
The Office of Sustainability would like to welcome you to Swarthmore College!
As part of our commitment to zero waste, Swarthmore offers access to slightly used items from our Worthmore Free Store to all students for use in residence halls during move-in, as well as throughout each semester. Selecting items at Worthmore before purchasing them can alleviate the cost and stress of having to buy new items for your residence hall rooms. Please see the attached list of the items most commonly found at Worthmore. As some items are very popular amongst students, it is not guaranteed that all of the items listed below will be available.
All incoming students are eligible to visit the Worthmore Free Store on Thursday, August 28, from 3:30 to 5 pm. To be able to visit the store, please sign up for a time slot here. You can not sign multiple people up; if your new friends or roommate(s) want to join you, they must sign up separately.
***If you are an International Student, FLI (First Generation/Low Income), or FLI-POP, please check with the Director of your program about your scheduled date and time to visit Worthmore, do not sign up using this time slot.***
If you don’t find what you are looking for during this time, Worthmore Free Store will be available during weekly open hours throughout the semester. Hours will be determined by Green Advisor students who manage the store. Once the days and times are confirmed, the information will be shared with the campus community via email and updated on the website. Please reach out to zerowaste@swarthmore.edu with any questions.
More information regarding the free store can be found on our website. Please reach out to zerowaste@swarthmore.edu with any questions.
Best,
Clare Hyre, Associate Director of Sustainability, Office of Sustainability
PS upon moving into your room, please look for your brand new reusable utensil set. We hope you will use it throughout your time at Swarthmore College.
