AI policy

The department expects that all student work reflects their own knowledge and effort. Students should assume that they cannot turn in work that was generated in whole or in part by AI, absent explicit permission from the instructor of the course. Specific policies on AI usage will vary by instructor and class, so students should not assume that something allowed in one course will be accepted in another. Students are responsible for seeking clarification if they are unsure exactly what is permitted in a particular context. Faculty are happy to discuss the details of their individual AI policies in office hours or by appointment.
