Update on Indoor Masking

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff Members,

After discussing the current conditions around COVID-19 on campus with our medical and public health professionals, and given the fact that finals have concluded and the majority of our students have left for summer break, we are writing to confirm that we are returning to optional indoor masking today, effectively immediately, as originally planned.

That said, we encourage anyone who wishes to continue masking indoors to do so. We recognize that individuals may make different choices about whether to mask based on their own individual circumstances, and we urge everyone to respect the decisions of our peers, colleagues, and friends.

As a reminder, if you are symptomatic, you are required to take a COVID-19 test. If you are asymptomatic and have been identified as a close contact, you are required to test five days after exposure. Individuals who test positive must follow the College’s isolation protocols, regardless of whether they are symptomatic.

Thank you for working to help keep members of the Swarthmore community safe.

Sincerely,
Members of the COVID-19 Planning Group
