Our first priority at Career Services is the well-being of our community. With that in mind, we are temporarily suspending in-person appointments and on-campus programs/events.

We are offering phone and Zoom appointments with our career counselors to our students and alumni.

CPA Drop-in Hours

CPA Zoom Drop-in hours: M-F, 1-3pm

Think of your Career Peer Advisors as your Career Services 101 resource.  

Weekdays beginning Tuesday, September 8 and continuing through the entire semester,  the CPA team will host zoom drop-ins every weekday afternoon from 1-3 pm EDT.  Hop on for assistance with building/polishing your resume and cover letter, taking a look at your social media presence, getting to know what events are upcoming in Career Services, talking about recruiting cycles, networking; and so much more.  Join here on Zoom.

These are your peers, they are your classmates, they are your friends, but most importantly, they are trained and skilled in all of these areas and look forward to getting to know you. Learn more about your CPAs here.

Lunch with Lisa

Lunch with Lisa, 12-1pm, link in the description

Beginning on Tuesday, September 8 and continuing through the entire semester, Lisa will be keeping our office door open virtually on weekdays from Noon-1pm EDT.  Hop on the Zoom and say hello!  Ask any questions that you'd ask if you were passing by the office and saw a welcome sign.  Lisa will be there every day and she looks forward to getting to know you and helping you navigate not only Career Services, but Swarthmore in general.  She been at the college for quite a while and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have! Career Services is excited to announce a one-day event, on Thursday, October 29th: "SwatWords" This is a chance to make personal connections with Swat alum mentors! There will be 84 alumni, 24 sessions across 16 different industries happening across three separate time slots (4-4:45pm, 5-5:45 pm, and 6-6:45 pm).

SwatWords Conversations can include advice and guidance on a range of topics including:

  • Career Paths and Current Industry Trends - experiences, insights and tips to land an offer
  • Choosing Majors and Managing Course Loads - suggested courses? Do majors matter?
  • Career Exploration and Development - How to learn about and prepare for each field
  • Diversity + Inclusion and Employers - Experiences and advice for moving forward
  • Impact of Covid-19 and Life Beyond College - Managing stress and the new paradigms

The Industries represented are: Civic and social impact, Education, Environmental, Entrepreneurship, Scientific research, Journalism/publishing, Law, Federal government, Finance, Public health, Data, Healthcare consulting, Healthcare, Technology, Economist, Marketing.

All 24 sessions have their Zoom links on Handshake; and for a list of all of the links.

Biolink & Datalink 2020

BioLink and DataLink 2020 gives students the opportunity to interview with top Biomedical, Biotech, Science, Data Science and Data Analytics opportunities. This event is a joint virtual interview day with Swarthmore College, University of Virginia, and University of Pennsylvania that will take place on Friday, November 13th from 9am-4:30pm. The application deadline is Oct. 26th. Learn more and register in Handshake

TriCo Diversity Showcase 2020

The Tri-Co Diversity Showcase is an opportunity for students to connect with employers with diversity hiring initiatives on Wednesday, October 28th from 4-6pm EDT. These employer partners are eager to connect with students from the Tri-Colleges and have initiatives for LGBTQIA, BIPOC, Women, Neurodiverse populations and employees with disabilities. After registering for the fair, you will have the chance to sign up for 1:1 employer chats and/or group info sessions to learn more about the employer diversity hiring initiatives. Students are encouraged to sign up for multiple opportunities to connect with employers.  Learn more about participating employers and register for this Handshake event here.
