Study Abroad
Scenes from Cape Town, South Africa and Krakow, Poland.
Swarthmore sponsors its own environmental foreign study program in Poland and has teamed with Pomona and Macalester colleges in a joint collaboration with the University of Cape Town (South Africa) in a program called Globalization and the Environment.
Other students have independently pursued programs in Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, Tanzania, Thailand, Australia, and elsewhere throughout the world. Students studying abroad can receive full credit toward an environmental studies minor.
With prior approval, students can also receive credit toward an environmental studies minor from domestic programs including the Audubon Expedition Institute (Cambridge, Mass.) and the maritime studies program at the Sea Education Association (Woods Hole, Mass.).
