AP/IP Credit Policy
One Swarthmore College credit may be granted for the AP Environmental Science exam if both of the following two conditions are satisfied:
- a score of 5 is achieved on the exam
- the student also completes with a passing grade either the Environmental Studies Intro or one course in either the Environmental Science/Technology category or the Environmental Social Sciences/Humanities category listed in the Environmental Studies section of the Bulletin. Interdisciplinary courses may count for this requirement but not cognate courses. Consult with the Environmental Studies Coordinator if you have questions.
However, the following restrictions apply to the use of credit for the AP exam:
- it may not be counted as one of the five required courses for the Interdisciplinary Minor in Environmental Studies
- the Environmental Studies Program cannot award divisional credit
