Sanctuary at Swarthmore

Resources for Undocumented Students

Department Overview

Swarthmore values the rich diversity of its student body, including its immigrant and undocumented student members.

In 2016, College President Valerie Smith and the Board of Managers committed to making Swarthmore a sanctuary campus, declaring "our intention to support all students in their quest to pursue their education without government interference." Read the full statement.

Sanctuary in practice means supporting all of our students, regardless of status, to enjoy full membership in the Swarthmore community. The International Student Center (ISC) serves as a resource center for Undocumented students. We welcome and support our students without regard to their immigration status. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that empowers undocumented students to thrive academically, personally, and professionally.
