Available Awards and Internships

The Social Impact Summer Scholarship (SISS) supports students to spend ten weeks, full time (35 hours per week) pursuing unpaid positions with host organizations that empower them to add dimension to their undergraduate course work while advancing the organization's mission, goals, and objectives. All students are required to have an advising appointment with a Lang Center Associate; secure a placement with an internship host site; and submit a successful application for the SISS program. Financial support includes a weekly stipend to offset modest living expenses, and the provision of the summer earnings requirement. For Summer 2021, students can receive up to $4,800.

The Richard Sager Internship, administered by the Lang Center, supports students interested in working with a non-profit organizational host whose mission focuses on LGBTQ issues. While the Sager Internship funds no more than one student per year, applications are evaluated on their own merits. Therefore, more than one student who has been offered a full-time placement with an LGBTQ organization may serve through a "general" (i.e. unnamed) SISS grant. .Students applying as a result of their academic involvement in the Gender and Sexuality Studies program may also be funded through a Nason Community Service Fellowship, which funds students who are proposing to do service that relates directly to their academic studies.
