- About the award
Award recipients receive a stipend for completing either 20 or 30 hours of research using materials from Swarthmore's Special Collections and presenting to staff about their research. The topic can be anything you choose as long as it uses our primary sources and historical materials.
A Moore Student Fellow will:
- Complete either 20 or 30 hours of research (in minimum increments of 2 hours) between July 1 and June 30 of the award year
- $400 is awarded for the 20-hour fellowship
- $600 is awarded for the 30-hour fellowship
- Spend shifts in-person in the Special Collections Reading Room during our open hours (9 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 4 pm, Monday-Friday)
- Use materials available in Swarthmore Special Collections
- Give a very brief and informal presentation as a group discussion with Special Collections staff about their research on their last day.
Funds are dispersed only after the Fellow completes all 20 or all 30 hours and participates in this presentation/discussion.
