Records Management

Records are an important part of the operational and administrative processes of the College and provide important documentation related to the history of the College.  Records management procedures are critical for ensuring that key documents and information are preserved and can be easily retrieved when needed but these procedures also provide structure and guidance related to appropriate disposal of documents, in particular when they contain sensitive information.

Effective records management requires everyone’s participation. It is your responsibility to keep your office files organized and secure, and to comply with your department’s retention schedule and procedures.

Swarthmore College adopted a Records Management Policy in June 2016. This site outlines the framework and rules for carrying out this policy, and provides background information and resources to support College employees as the program is implemented.
