Student Feedback

Each year, we survey Swarthmore students about their summer opportunity experiences. 460 students told us about their College-funded internships, research, and other pursuits during the summer of 2025.

Highlights
Students of all experience levels participated: First Years (24%), Second Years (36%), and Third Years (39%)
The top three skills students developed during their summer experiences were time management (86% of students), communication (83%), and financial planning (62%)
2025 summer experiences beyond academic research included serving at a nonprofit legal and advocacy firm in New York; a journalism fellowship through the Pulitzer Crisis Reporting Center, creating bilingual videobooks for early Deaf learners, and interning with an orthopaedic surgeon.
