Stanley was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the United States when he was 12. He learned english quickly, completed his ESL classes in two short years and went on to win the Frick Collection's Excellence in Writing Contest. He was invited to participate in Telluride Association's summer program at Cornell, where he studied medieval romances. Stanley loves to teach children and was twice named "tutor of the month" for his work with the READ Foundation. He has a passion for literature and arranged for the author Julia Alvarez to speak at his school. He hopes to bring her to campus to speak next spring.
