Matt Walsh, M.Ed., Title IX Coordinator

Matt Walsh

Matt Walsh began as Swarthmore’s Title IX Coordinator in July 2025. In this role, Matt coordinates and provides education, training, and support for all members of the campus community to prevent and respond to incidents of sexual violence, harassment, and other forms of gender-based inequity at the College. He also coordinates the College’s response and investigation of Title IX complaints and maintains responsibility for aligning College policy with federal laws. He brings to this work a passion and commitment to the equitable treatment of all students, faculty, and staff members at the College.

A Havertown, Pa., native, Matt came to Swarthmore from the University of Illinois Chicago where, for four years as a Title IX and civil rights investigator, he managed reports of violations related to sexual misconduct, discrimination, and harassment. Prior to that, Matt promoted and educated K-12 students about healthy relationships, consent, and anti-harassment. He also served as the Title IX trainer for Chicago Public Schools, working specifically with principals and administrators. Matt holds a B.A. in women and gender studies from DePaul University and an M.Ed. from University of Illinois Chicago.

Matt and his family live in Philadelphia. Be sure to watch for him as he bikes through campus!
