Richard Hill, Jr., Bass (Jazz)

Richard Hill Jr. is currently the bassist with the Sun Ra Arkestra. A vital force in the Philadelphia scene since his youth, he has collaborated with jazz icons Wynton Marsalis, Nicholas Payton, Frank Foster, and Jackie McLean, alongside contemporary artists Robert Glasper and Jill Scott. His recording credits include work with Javon Jackson and the Korean Broadcasting Network. He remains active in Delaware, performing regularly with Gerald Chavis, Tony Smith, and Fostina Dixon. A former resident composing artist at the Kimmel Center, Richard was awarded the Delaware Division of the Arts Composition Fellowship in 2024. As an educator, he focuses on building strong technical foundations while nurturing each student's unique creative voice.
