Meichen Liao-Barnes, Violin

Meichen Liao-Barnes is Associate Concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School where her teachers included Yumi Ninomiya, Arnold Steinhardt, Ivan Galamian, and Dorothy Delay. 

Upon graduation from The Juilliard School, she was awarded a recital in Town Hall New York. She continued professional studies with David Arben. Mrs. Barnes has performed with the Lincoln Chamber Players, the Brandenburg Ensemble, toured with Music from Marlboro, and performed as Guest Concertmaster with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Capital Philharmonic of New Jersey, and Opera Philadelphia. She led a 4 week tour with the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia featuring Branford Marsalis. 

Solo appearances include the Hartford Symphony, Concerto Soloists, Philly Pops, Old York Road Symphony, Main Line Symphony Orchestra, and The Philadelphia Orchestra as winner of their Greenfield Senior Student Competition. Festival appearances include Marlboro Music, Schneider Seminar, Blossom Music Festival, Grand TetonFestival, Sarasota Festival and Meadowmount.She has appeared with Leonidas Kavakos, Isadore Cohen, David Soyer, Felix Galimir, and Alexander Schneider. She is a top prizewinner with the Great Neck Symphony, Hartford Symphony, Juilliard Concerto Competition, and the Washington International Competition. 

Meichen is a member of the Wister Quartet and an Adjunct Professor at Temple University.
