Kei Fukuda (‘07) is a Philadelphia-based violinist, chamber musician, and dedicated educator committed to music as a force for social change. She performs regularly with the Delaware Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Philadelphia Ballet, Opera Philadelphia, and the Britt Festival Orchestra, and in the past performed with the Kansas City and Akron Symphony Orchestras. A devoted teacher with nearly two decades of experience, Kei currently serves as a violin instructor and chamber music coach at Swarthmore College, and is also the Director of Admissions at the Curtis Institute of Music. She holds a B.A. in music and biology from Swarthmore and studied with C.J. Chang (Philadelphia Orchestra), Ivan Chan (Miami String Quartet), and Benny Kim (Miami String Quartet).
Kei’s teaching emphasizes strong technical foundations and a holistic approach to playing, with attention to body awareness and injury prevention. She encourages curiosity and critical thinking in her students, fostering the problem-solving skills they need to continue growing independently.
