Erin Banholzer, Oboe
Erin Banholzer enjoys an active career as an orchestral musician, soloist, and educator. She is principal oboe of the Ocean City Pops Orchestra and Lancaster Festival Orchestra and has performed with notable orchestras across the United States, including the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra. She has appeared internationally on several occasions, including on tour with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, in concerts for members of the Vatican in Rome, Italy, and in performances at the Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman.
A sought-after educator, Banholzer is a member of the oboe faculty at the University of Delaware School of Music. She was formally a faculty member at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University and Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Rutgers University. Her principal teachers have included Nathan Hughes, Scott Bell, Jeffrey Rathbun, Scott Hostetler, and Michael Henoch. Her teaching emphasizes playful experimentation, fundamental development, and repertoire exploration.
