Malik Mubeen '13

Malik Mubeen '13 is from Radford, Va., and plans to major in Mathematics and Economics.

"As a student-athlete at Swarthmore, tennis is an important part of my life. In addition to the varsity tennis season, every day between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. I'm able to temporarily set aside all the stresses of school and hit some balls around on the tennis court. I find this a great release from the academic aspect of Swarthmore, and I enjoy spending time with a bunch of guys I have a lot in common with. As an Indian-American, I am also a proud member of SAO [Swarthmore Asian Organization], and DESHI [South Asian organization]. Coming from town with a very small South Asian population, this diverse campus is a nice change."

"Being a McCabe Scholar is a huge honor. To know that I am in the company of many great Swat alums is very humbling. During my years at Swat, I hope to live up to the reputation that the scholarship conveys."
