Erler Presents Research in San Diego CA

Elizabeth at her poster at Biophysical Society Meeting

Elizabeth Erler '20 attended the Biophysical Society 64th Annual Meeting in San Diego, California from February 14-17, 2020.  She was awarded a competitive travel grant from the Biophysical Society to attend the meeting where she presented her senior honors thesis research related to influenza virus.  She was able to network with scientists from around world and found it "helpful to be able to compare techniques and to be able to brainstorm in person with others who are very familiar with the questions I am working on."  Elizabeth said that the meeting "helped me to take ownership of my thesis project and to feel like I was able to contribute to the field of science that I am working in."

(As an added bonus, she was able to attend talks by the authors of the biophysics textbook (Ken Dill and Rob Philips) used in the seminar she took with Professor Crouch in Fall 2019.)
