Intercultural Development Inventory Assessment

The Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) assesses intercultural adaptability and competence - the capability to shift cultural perspective and appropriately adapt behavior to cultural differences and commonalities. This assessment is individually completed, but the resulting data can be reviewed on either an individual basis or in aggregate for a group. Results are discussed with the individual and/or the group and results in an Intercultural Development Plan tailored to meet the needs identified. 

 

Perspectives: Practical Skills to Engage in Dialogue Across Difference

Perspectives includes evidence-based asynchronous online learning modules as well as peer-to-peer conversations focused on developing skills to engage in dialogue across lines of difference. Over 80% of participants reported increased confidence in navigating difficult conversations and communicating across differences after completing Perspectives. 84% of participants reported that Perspectives helped them gain valuable professional and life skills.

 

Policies 101: An Overview of Swarthmore's Title IX and Other College-Defined Sexual Misconduct Policy and The Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation

This 60-90-minute training delivered by either the Equal Opportunity Officer or the Title IX Coordinator is meant to equip participants with a familiarity with two of Swarthmore's Policies: Title IX and College-defined Sexual Misconduct Policy & Procedures and the Policy Prohibiting Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation. Participants of this training will gain an understanding of the College's definitions of Sexual Misconduct, Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation as well as the College's processes for reporting and resolving allegations of violations of these policies. Each session of this training will include a Q &A session with the facilitator, as time allows. 

 

Snap Judgment: Understanding the Impact of Cognitive and Social Biases in Our Everyday Lives

This 60-90 minute facilitation is typically delivered by the Equal Opportunity Officer. It is meant to provide participants with the opportunity to explore the impact of both cognitive and social bias on our everyday decisions. Participants will learn about common cognitive and social biases we all experience, what purposes they serve, as well as how they can sub- or even unconsciously impact how we behave. Participants will use scenarios to explore this impact.  

 

Whoa! Whoa! Slowing or Stopping a Disclosure, Why You Might Want To and Other Tips for Navigating Your Mandated Reporting Responsibilities

Starting with an explanation of reporting responsibilities, participants will learn best practices for how to fulfill their obligations as designated employees during this 60-minute training. Participants will engage in an exploration of their concerns about reporting, what happens when the College receives a report, and how they can support individuals who disclose sexual misconduct, discrimination and/or harassment to them. This training can also be tailored to speak to audiences that aren't designated employees and are just looking for guidance on how to support friends and colleagues who may have experienced sexual misconduct, discrimination and/or harassment.
