Law & Politics Concentration
The Law & Politics concentration provides an opportunity for Political Science majors to gain a deeper understanding of the intersection between law, politics, society, and governance. Eligible courses cover a broad range of methodological approaches and substantive inquiries, including (but not limited to) constitution law, criminal justice, policing and incarceration, law and political economy, and international law. This concentration may be especially useful to those considering a career in law, legal academia, or public policy. Students who complete the Law & Politics concentration will receive a certificate from the Political Science Department verifying that they have completed all necessary requirements for the concentration.
- To earn a Law & Politics concentration, students must fulfill all political science major requirements.
- Students must take at least four approved Law & Politics credits. Of these four, one may be taken outside of the Swarthmore College Political Science department.
- Courses taken at other institutions (e.g., TriCo courses, Penn, or study abroad) must be approved by the department before they are counted towards the concentration.
