IC Faculty and Staff Ally Award

Number of recipients: 2

This nominee must be a faculty or staff member

This individual is being nominated for:

  • Showing outstanding support to the IC
  • Providing mentorship to students
  • Participating in advocacy that advances and promotes the goals and beliefs of the IC

Recognition of Emerging Leaders

Number of recipients: 5-8

This nominee must be a 1st year student

This individual is being nominated for:

  • Showing significant leadership that advances and promotes the goals and beliefs of the IC, either by holding a leadership position in an IC group or by leading events or campaigns that promote said goals.
  • Being easily identified for their work for the IC by their nominator, either for their official leadership position or identifiable contributions to the IC community

Senior Recognition for Community Leadership, Commitment, and Contribution

Number of recipients: 5-8

This nominee must be a graduating senior.

This individual is being nominated for:

  • Demonstrating unwavering commitment to the IC
  • Raising awareness about the IC and student groups
  • Sustaining leadership and mentorship in, with, and to the IC community
  • Fostering collaboration and partnerships across IC student groups and communities

Aurora Camacho de Schmidt Scholar Activism Recognition

Number of recipients: 2

This individual is being nominated for:

  • Outstanding scholarly work that interrogates social justice, equity, and community principles espoused by the IC
  • Innovative research projects that advance learning, dialogue, and reflection
  • Engagement of praxis to connect theoretical frameworks and social justice practice

Darryl Smaw Award in Recognition for Coalition Building

Number of recipients: 2

This individual is being nominated for:

  • Outstanding and consistent leadership in IC communities
  • Intentional work to build coalitions and connections across IC communities
  • Engagement with communities outside Swarthmore
  • (This award is encouraged for sophomore and junior students)

Dedication to Women's Issues

Number of recipients: 2

This individual is being nominated for:

  • Outstanding contributions toward raising consciousness around women's issues on and/or off campus
  • Advocacy and support for women identified students at Swarthmore
  • Attention to intersections of identities
  • >Favianna Rodriguez Recognition of Artistic Activism

    Number of recipients: 3, one each in literary, visual, and performing arts

    This individual is being nominated for:

    • Outstanding participation and accomplishment in artistic endeavors on and/off campus
    • Creative use of art as medium and location for activism, learning, and community building
    • Inspiration of critical questions, dialogue, and reflection
