Raymond Hopkins

An authority on world food supply and food politics, Raymond Hopkins is able to address questions related to hunger, food policy, agriculture, African famine, food aid, and international organizations working to ameliorate food problems. Hopkins was a delegate to the 1996 World Food Summit, and he has authored and/or edited several books, including The Global Political Economy of Food (University of Wisconsin, 1979) and Food in the Global Arena (Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1982). A member of the Swarthmore faculty since 1967, Hopkins has also held visiting posts at such institutions as Stanford, Harvard, the University of Nairobi, and the International Food Policy Research Institute. He currently holds the title of Richter Professor of Political Science at Swarthmore.
