Russell Maret is a letter designer and letterpress printer. Based in New York City, he set up his own press in 1993 after apprenticeships with printer Peter Koch and Firefly Press. He later taught himself to design letterforms and has since converted some of his type designs into metal typefaces for letterpress. This exhibition features works by Maret that are part of the Swarthmore College Libraries Book Arts & Private Press Collection.
Witness the mighty legacy of Godzilla, featured in an exhibit in McCabe Library's Rare Book Room windows this fall semester and online in an accompanying LibGuide! Learn some about the history and continued popularity of the iconic kaiju and check out some of the Libraries' Godzilla themed books and films as we celebrate 65 years of the King of Monsters' reign.
Each year we create an exhibition of newly acquired works in the Swarthmore College Book Arts + Private Press Collection by local artists, along with those featuring the region. In 2020, we take the gallery online.
The Reactor Room is a digital installation featuring the work of students in Professor José Vergara's course Chernobyl: Nuclear Narratives and the Environment (Spring 2020). This interactive exhibition seeks to facilitate public engagement with the Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe and its associated mythology.
