Divorced or Separated Parents

Current or prospective students whose parents are divorced or separated or were never married have additional documentation required in their financial aid application.

Domestic Students

You are considered a domestic student if your parents live and earn their income in the U.S., or if you are an undocumented or DACA student who will or did graduate from a U.S. high school.

If you are a domestic student whose parents are divorced or separated at the time of your financial aid application, both households must submit the following individually:

  1.  College Board’s CSS/PROFILE form: The CSS/PROFILE form addresses parents individually as "Parent A" and "Parent B"  
  2. 2019 federal tax return and all pages and schedules, as well as all W-2 and 1099 statements used to file the tax return. Submit via the College Board IDOC service for all parents, (biological and any stepparents)

International Students

You are considered an international student if your parents do not file a U.S. tax return. Undocumented or DACA students who will or did graduate from a U.S. high school are considered domestic students.

If you are an international student whose parents are divorced or separated at the time of your financial aid application, both households must submit the following individually:

  1.  College Board’s CSS/PROFILE form: The CSS/PROFILE form addresses parents individually as "Parent A" and "Parent B"  
  2.  A letter from each parent's employer, accompanied by attested parent income documentation. Upload via the student's Financial Aid Checklist on their Admission Applicant Status page for all parents, (biological and any stepparents):
