Introduction

Each year, through a competitive “speak-off,” the senior class votes for the student commencement speaker. This year, our graduates selected Sophia Cáceres as the 2026 senior class speaker. 

Sophia is a Spanish and Religion major from Smyrna, Ga. Throughout her four years, she has been a member of the varsity swim team and has worked as an Inclusive Excellence Fellow, Senior Admissions Fellow, and as a Spanish Tutor. Her favorite class at Swarthmore was her Spanish capstone seminar on Cuban film with Professor Désirée Díaz.
