Tom Spock '78

Tom Spock ‘78 is a long-time sports and media industry executive and the founding partner of Scalar Media LLC. Prior to starting Scalar Media, he spent 10 years with the NFL, serving as its first executive vice president and chief financial officer and later as executive vice president for new media and enterprises. Before joining the NFL, Spock spent nine years at NBC in New York in a variety of financial positions.

Spock served from 2015-2018 as the 14th chair of the Board of Managers.  He has been on the Board since 1997, and has had many board-related roles, including chairing the Presidential Search Committee in 2008-09.  From 1989-1993 he was on the Board of Friends of Swarthmore Athletics, and was chair of the Garnet Club from 2013-14.

Spock earned a B.A. with honors in economics from Swarthmore and an MBA from Stanford. At his Swarthmore commencement, he received the Ivy Award. Spock also played four years of varsity soccer, including playing in the 1974 NCAA Division III National Championship game. He is married to Linda M. Spock; they have one grown son.
