Concluding Dialogues

Questions for Intern Supervisor

The following are to be completed by a representative of the organization hosting the intern, after the placement has been completed.

  • What was the schedule for the student(s) each week?
  • Was the length of time over the course of the term sufficient for them to make a meaningful contribution?  If not, what additional time would be preferable?
  • What tasks were they given?  Were they able to effectively take on assigned tasks?
  • Would you be willing to host a student/students in future?
  • What information would you like a potential volunteer to know before starting a placement with your organization?  What skills would be most useful for them to bring?
  • What information would be useful for you to know about future volunteers?
  • Overall, how useful was/were the volunteer(s)?
  • What feedback would you like me to convey to them about their work with your organization?
  • While I kept in touch with the students on a fairly regular basis concerning their volunteer placements, I did not check in with each of you due to time constraints on my part and an understanding that each of you was also quite busy.  In future, would you prefer this approach or one that asked for feedback more frequently?  If so, would you appreciate having a check-in on a bi-weekly, monthly, or bi-monthly basis?
  • What additional feedback would you like to convey to me either about the student volunteer(s) or about my role?
