- Where do I check-in once I arrive on campus and when is the registration desk open?
Alumni Weekend Check-in and Customer Service will be located in Parrish Hall, Shane Student Lounge and available during the following times:
Thursday 11 a.m.–10 p.m. (50th Reunion only)
Friday 8 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
Sunday 7 a.m.–1 p.m.- Are the buildings on campus air conditioned?
Most dorms are not air conditioned, although classroom buildings and the Dining Center are.
- What if I need help getting around campus?
Golf carts will be on call to provide transportation to alumni needing assistance. The College is unable to provide wheelchairs, but information for local medical equipment rentals is available on the Accessibility page.
- Will the College provide childcare during Alumni Weekend?
Swarthmore does not provide childcare during Alumni Weekend. The Philadelphia Nanny Network is a local, bonded agency that operates contractual childcare services. Alumni and families looking for childcare should contact Philadelphia Nanny Network directly at least four weeks in advance for details and scheduling. This agency is neither affiliated nor endorsed by Swarthmore College.
- Are there gender inclusive bathrooms on campus?
Gender inclusive bathrooms are bathrooms that people of any gender or gender identity may use. Swarthmore is working to make sure that everybody has a choice in each building. View a current list of gender inclusive bathrooms. All restrooms in the Dining Center are gender inclusive and all residence halls also have gender inclusive bathrooms.
- What should I do if I believe a classmate has been overserved?
If you believe that a guest of the College has had too much to drink and is unable to drive home, please contact Public Safety at 610-328-8281. The College will make arrangements to house anyone who is unable to drive home from a College activity.
- Where can I attend a religious service while in Swarthmore?
The Swarthmore College Interfaith Center maintains a list of local houses of worship.
Housing FAQs
- Can I still register for on-campus housing?
No, on-campus housing is sold out.
If you've reserved on-campus housing, it's important to remember dorm rooms are equipped with only the bare essentials: two sheets, one pillow and pillowcase, one blanket, and two towels. Bathrooms are communal and all-gender; rooms with private baths are not available. Most residence halls do not have air conditioning. Due to campus construction this summer, family suites (dorm rooms with one or more connecting rooms) will not be available.
- What's included in my on-campus housing?
Dorm rooms are equipped with only the bare essentials: two sheets, one pillow and pillowcase, one blanket, and two towels. Bathrooms are communal and all-gender; rooms with private baths are not available. Most residence halls do not have air conditioning. Due to campus construction this summer, family suites (dorm rooms with one or more connecting rooms) will not be available. For those seeking more comfortable lodging, we encourage you to explore off-campus options, including local hotels, inns, and short-term rentals.
- I reserved on-campus housing. Where will my room be, and will I be housed with my classmates?
You will receive your residence hall and room assignments at check-in. While we make every effort to house classes together, we cannot guarantee any housing assignments.
- Are the dorms air conditioned?
Most dorms are not air conditioned, although classroom buildings and the Dining Center are.
- Can I check into my room on Thursday, May 29?
Only 50th reunion guests are permitted to stay on campus on Thursday, May 29. If you are arriving early, we recommend making a reservation at a local hotel. Explore local accommodations.
Registration FAQs
- Can I still register for Alumni Weekend?
A limited number of walk-on registrations will be available throughout the weekend. Please visit the Registration and Customer Desk in Parrish Hall, Shane Student Lounge when you arrive.
- Do I need to register my children?
Children 4 and under are free and you do not need to register them for Alumni Weekend. Dependents ages 5–20 receive discounted pricing and should be registered for all meals and activities.
- Can I register for on-campus housing without registering for Alumni Weekend events?
No, on-campus housing is sold out and not available for walk-on registrants.
- What's the resource fee?
Registration does not cover the full cost of Alumni Weekend. The resource fees helps cover the additional expenses of Alumni Weekend, including support from Public Safety, Environmental Services, and student workers.
