Cristian was born in Medellin, Colombia, and immigrated to the United States with his family in 2001 at the age of 10. He began 4th grade at a bilingual school in Bridgeport, CT, moved to a mainstream school in 5th grade and then enrolled at Fairfield Prep. He was the Editor in Chief of the school yearbook and regards it as one of the most fulfilling experiences in high school. He has a passion for graphic design and spent time with other students proofing and monitoring the creation of the yearbook in addition to designing the graphics. He received the French Departmental Award and the Principal's Book Award for academic excellence and dedication to service for others.
He also served as Freshman Retreat Co-Director and Kiaros Leader, roles in which he focused on improving the spiritual and communal feeling of his school. He founded the Media Club, participated in Liturgical Choir and the Debate Society, and was a member of the Varsity Crew team. During his junior year of high school, he began to write a novel to help cope with growing up and developing into his own person.
