Mark Hanis '05 Named Ashoka Fellow

Mark Hanis '05, Sam Bell '05, and Andrew Sniderman '07 co-founded what is now the Genocide Intervention Network (GI-Net) during their senior year to address the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan. Using technology in innovative ways, GI-Net harnesses the power of individuals to influence public policy and provides training so advocates become lifelong champions of the cause.

For empowering individuals to advocate for human rights in new and effective ways, Hanis is one of 21 leading social entrepreneurs from across the U.S. to be elected an Ashoka Fellow this year. He joins the ranks of some 2,200 Fellows in over 60 countries around the world who are working for social change to improve society.
