Members of the Garnet men's soccer team recently landed in South America for nearly two weeks of pre-season training. In Argentina, they hit the ground running, winning their first match just hours after arriving.

"Swarthmore came away anxious to get some training in and bring up the level of execution before the next match," says Sports Information Director Kyle Leach, who is maintaining a blog during the trip. "Hopes are for that return to be quick as the next opponent, Club Atletico River Plate, will present a team of players that have trained year-round since early adolescence."

In Argentina, the team's itinerary includes a community service project with the children at Hogar de Dia Jesus de Belen, arranged by Francisco Sersale '02.  Then it's north to Brazil, where the team will tour Santos FC, Pele's home club, and play three friendly matches with area teams. more
