Board Approves Presidential
Position Specification 

It's been an exciting and busy month since classes resumed and we're grateful to all members of the community who have contributed their suggestions and nominations for Swarthmore's next president. As many of you know, members of the search committee, along with our search firm, Storbeck/Pimentel and Associates, were on campus during the early part of the semester, talking to students, faculty, and staff about their suggestions for the qualifications we seek and the challenges that our next president will face. From those conversations and those held with alumni, we were able to craft a position specification document summarizing the thoughtful suggestions we received. At its meeting in late September, the Board of Managers approved the document, which can be found on the presidential search Web site.

We continue to receive excellent suggestions for candidates and are very encouraged by the depth and quality of those who have been nominated. We also continue to meet with members of the community interested in sharing their views and invite you to visit the presidential search Web site at any time to share your thoughts with us as we move more deeply into the search. It's been an invigorating process, made more gratifying by the exceptional level of shared commitment our community has to finding the best possible leader for the College.
