Seeds of Compassion, a five-day event in Seattle that begins Fri., Apr. 11, will feature a keynote address by H.H. the Dalai Lama. According to steering committee member Connie Moffit '75, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, thought leader Daniel Goleman, brain scientist Richard Davidson, multi-platinum musician Dave Matthews, "Today Show" journalist Ann Curry, and former child soldier and author Ishmael Baeh are also featured speakers.

The event launches an ongoing sustainable initiative "to nurture kindness and compassion in the world, starting with children and all those who touch their lives," Moffit says. "The focus of the initiative is to put attention on the early learning development of young children so that they will develop the capacities to feel empathy, to learn, and to become happy and productive adults."  The event, which will be web cast, will also include a violin solo by the 11-year-old daughter of Anand Yang '70.
