Honored Twice for Latest Book

Swarthmore history professor Pieter Judson '78 is the recipient of two awards for Guardians of the Nation (2006), his examination of the rise of nationalism in multi-ethnic regions of Central and Eastern Europe. First, it was named the winner of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies' 2007 Barbara Jelavich Book Prize.  While attending that organization's conference in New Orleans to accept the award last month, he learned it had also been awarded the first book prize given by the Czechoslovak Studies Association.
