Swarthmore Junior Wins Goldwater Scholarship
Juliet Braslow of Indio, Calif., a junior at Swarthmore College, has been named a Goldwater Scholar for 2006. The daughter of Janet and Jonathan Braslow, she is a 2003 graduate of Palm Desert High School.
As a recipient of the scholarship, Braslow will receive up to $7,500 per year toward her undergraduate expenses. She was selected for the award, named for Senator Barry M. Goldwater, on the basis of academic merit from a field of 1,081 mathematics, science, and engineering students who were nominated by the faculties of colleges and universities nationwide. Braslow, a Spanish and biology double major, was one of 323 undergraduates to receive this honor.
She spent this semester abroad studying and exploring in Barcelona. At Swarthmore, she is a member of the Health and Wellness Committee and the dance group Rhythm 'n Motion.
