Creative Media Commons

The Creative Media Commons is a space to explore digital arts: filmmaking and animation, layout and design, music and audio production. Facilities feature 18 Mac computers built for Adobe Creative Cloud, three Wacom Cintiq tablets for illustration, two video editing suites equipped for collaborative filmmaking and color grading, and an audio recording suite for voiceover, ADR, and Foley art. Martin Hall also offers a small sound stage, green screen, and cinema.

Equipment Checkout

Professional filmmaking equipment is available to currently enrolled students who have been trained via a Film and Media Studies (FMST) production course. Priority is given to those who are actively engaged in class projects.

Self-service Poster Printing

Large format poster printing is available for curricular purposes (class projects, poster sessions, theatrical work). Standard poster dimensions are 35" height by 48" width. Posters must be saved as PDF files using the dimensions above prior to printing.

Laminated printing instructions are located in the Creative Media Commons.

Anyone in need of flyers, multiple copies of any document, printing for personal projects, or any other print product should consult with Swarthmore Print Services or an external resource.

Access & Staff

Typical hours for the Creative Media Commons and Equipment Checkout are posted in the left margin of this page. Please refer to the Swarthmore Dash for the most up-to-date information.

Student Consultants are available to offer expertise in media production, and support for the self-service printing system, during open hours. Consultations are by appointment only during academic breaks, though college employees may still access self-service resources via OneCard from 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Facilities are closed during all college holidays.

Workshops

Members of the ITS staff are happy to provide in-class workshops on Adobe Creative Cloud, filmmaking fundamentals, digital storytelling, poster design, motion graphics compositing, and other media production topics.

Inquiries should be directed to Jeremy Polk.
