A Delicate Balance

Senior Company 2004

The Swarthmore College Department of Theater presents Senior Company 2004's production of Edward Albee's Pulitzer-Prize winning A Delicate Balance, December 5-7 at 8pm in the Frear Ensemble Theatre in the Lang Performing Arts Center. The play under the direction of Marc Boucai '04 and Adrienne Mackey '04 is a caustically funny and moving exploration of love, compassion and the bonds of friendship and family. Agnes (Felicia Leicht '04) and Tobias (Sam Dingman '04), a middle-aged couple, are engaged in a battle of wills with Agnes' sister Claire (Audrey Pernell '04), a self-professed drunk, and their daughter Julia (Rebecca Ennen '04), who has returned home after a fourth failed marriage. Their equilibrium is further jeopardised by the sudden arrival of their best friends, Edna (María Alvarez '04) and Harry (Matthew Fitting '05), a couple seeking refuge in an already threatened home.
