The mission statement of the Swarthmore College Art Collection was shaped and formalized with the College Art Committee and approved in November 2023.

The Swarthmore College Art Collection supports the mission of the College and serves as a vital resource for students, faculty, staff, and the communities beyond our campus. The Collection preserves, interprets, and makes accessible works of art and objects that reflect diverse cultures, ideas, and civic engagement. Through facilitating meaningful interactions, the Collection fosters intellectual curiosity, interdisciplinary study, and creative expression.
