Students describe their experiences in the Classics Department.

"Last summer, with financial support from Swarthmore, I went to Pompeii on an archaeological dig. I found out about the opportunity through the Classics Department, and the faculty provided support for my application. I've decided that archaeology is among the things I want to do seriously during my life and I never would have discovered that, had I not gotten the chance to actually try it. I was excited to translate a few of the preserved painted signs when I was there."
